Some DroidDesk devices have the Dynamic IP label.
On these devices, the IP address may be refreshed by rebooting the phone.
Dynamic IP on LTE/5G devices
If a device has the Dynamic IP label and uses 5G/LTE, the IP is refreshed by rebooting the device. To do this, click Reboot Device.
After the reboot, the phone reconnects to the mobile network. During this process, the carrier may assign a new IP address from its mobile network pool.
This is standard behavior for LTE/5G networks.
IP change is not guaranteed
After reboot, the carrier may assign:
The result depends on the mobile carrier and current network conditions.
Wi-Fi devices
Wi-Fi devices may change IP automatically depending on the ISP settings. However, DroidDesk cannot force an IP change on Wi-Fi devices because we do not control the external router or modem.
If you need IP refresh, choose a device with the Dynamic IP label and 5G/LTE connection.
Physical location and IP location
The physical device location and IP location may not always match exactly. For example, the phone may be physically located in one city, while the IP shows another city in the same country.
This is normal for mobile networks — carriers may route traffic through their own network infrastructure.
